Mrs. Essie L. Bagby of Linville Succumbs; Final Rites Saturday, by K.L. Haga
Mrs. Essie Loven Bagby, wife of Wesley M. Bagby of Linville died at her home Saturday evening at 7:40 P.M. She was the daughter of the late Ed S. Loven and Mrs. Myrtle Loven. She was 35 years of age and spent her childhood and young womanhood at her home in Linville.
She joined the Presbyterian church when she was 12 years old and was a faithful and worthy member. She attended Lees's McRae Institute, Flora McDonald and Davenport Colleges. After her marriage she became a member of the Southern Methodist church and was a great help in the church work with her husband.
During the six years resident in Savannah, Georgia, where her husband was Boy Scout Executive she was the efficient secretary of a large Sunday school class of ladies. She manifested great interest in young peoples work and revealed great faithfulness and patience in her work among them. She was a devoted and God-fearing mother. Her home was a home where prayer was held daily and her children were taught to pray and attend Sunday School.
Surviving are her husband and 3 children, Sibyl, Wesley and Edwin, her mother, Mrs. Ed. S. Loven, a brother, J.A. Loven, a sister Joyce, all of Linville and a sister Mrs. Hope Loven Pitman of Canton, Ohio.
The funeral services were held in the Presbyterian Church in Linville with Rev. D.W. Haga of the Methodist Church and Rev. K.L. Haga of the Montezuma Baptist Church in charge. Burial took place in the Montezuma cemetery with Ronald Hughes in charge. The church auditorium would not seat the large crowd present and the floral offerings were profuse.
