- ERWIN - Jimmy L. Edney, age 72, of Erwin, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, February 12, 2017 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Erwin and a son of the late William Lish and Mildred Hensley Edney. Jimmy proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and was the Materials Control Manager at Nuclear Fuel Services in Erwin until he retired after 30+ years of service. Jimmy loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and he was loved by many friends, neighbors and family. In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Pat Edney and his brother, David “Toby” Edney.

Edney has left behind to cherish his memories: Son: Chad Edney and wife Tina, of Unicoi; Daughters: Diane McLaughlin and husband Joel, of Unicoi; Shirley Lane and husband Byrd, of Erwin; Melissa Donahue and husband Danny, of Whitman, MA; Granddaughters: Rachel Hendricks and husband Nate, of Erwin; Chandra Edney, of Unicoi; Grandsons: Justin Lane; Drew Edney; Chris Donahue; Greg Donahue; Brothers: Mike Edney and wife Kathy, of Erwin; Butch Edney, of Erwin; Charles “Chuck” Edney and wife Gloria, of Raleigh, NC; Sisters: Mary Doty, of Erwin; Marie Keller, of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA; Great-Grandchildren: Emily Lane; Victoria Lane; Eli Hendricks; Danika Hendricks.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Jimmy L. Edney in a funeral service to be at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, February 14, 2017 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend James Dunn and Reverend Harold Lewis will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 PM and continue until service time on Tuesday. A committal service will be Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at 11:00 AM in the mausoleum at Evergreen Cemetery. Those who wish to attend will meet at Valley Funeral Home on Wednesday by 10:30 AM to go in procession to Evergreen Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Gouge, Chuck Edney, Ben Williams, John Hillard, Roger Banner and Larry Peterson. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Lane, Drew Edney and Eli Hendricks.
