- Larry Burton Winters, age 78, of the Frank Community, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021. A native of Avery County, he was the son of the late William and Ruby Holtsclaw Winters. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry "Little John" Winters, Jr.
Larry loved his family and enjoyed camping, deer hunting, and especially eating fried chicken.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Patsy Ollis Winters; daughter, Jacqueline Winters of Newland; son, Mick Winters of Newland; grandchildren: Jesse Stamey, Jason Stamey, and Brittany Burrows; brother, Robert Winters of Granite Falls.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
