- Joella Richardson Adams, 68, died Jan. 9, 1999, at Riverside Regional Medical Center. A native of Pennington Gap, she was the daughter of the late Earl W. and Ruby Akers Richardson.
She retired in 1974 from the Newport News school system. Joella was a member of Gloucester Point Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, John J. Adams Sr.; one daughter, Teresa Adams Kelley, and her husband, Horace; two sons, J. Javan Adams Jr. and William ''Bill'' W. Adams, and his wife, Katy; one grandson, Christopher Edward Larson, and his wife, Jennifer; one granddaughter, Ashley Jo Kelley; one aunt, Virginia Hampton; one uncle, George Richardson; and a host of cousins.
A funeral service, conducted by the Rev. J. Michael Wilkins and the Rev. Dr. Tommy Harrell, will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Gloucester Point Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery.
