- Dorothy B. Sliger, 82, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016, with her family at her side. She was a native of Washington County and daughter of the late A.C. and Thelma Scott Couch.
Dorothy graduated from Lamar High School and East Tennessee State College with a degree in Physical Education and taught at Lamar High School and Jonesborough High School. Dorothy completed her teaching career as a substitute teacher for the Johnson City School System.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church and an active member of her Sunday School Class. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, playing bridge, and slot machines and her special times with the Friday lunch bunch.
Those left to cherish Dorothy’s memory include her husband, of 60 years, Robert (Bob) Sliger, her children: David Sliger and his wife Carolyn, Gray, Larry Sliger and his wife Michele, Johnson City, her sister, Jo Ann Barry, of Gray, granddaughters, Reid and McKinley of Johnson City, and Malissa Sliger, of Gray and several nieces and nephews.
The family will greet guests and share memories from 5:00 -7:00 pm Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Tetrick Funeral and Cremation Services, Johnson City. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 pm with members of Central Baptist Church leading the service. Graveside services will be held at 10:45 am Monday, June 20, 2016 at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, Tennessee.
