- Mack John Miller, 95, of Hampton, Tenn., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 29, 2022. Mack was born in Linville, N.C., to the late McKinley Miller and Nina Cook Miller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Marjorie Lee Greene Miller; his beloved son, Guan Glenn Miller; a brother, Paul Miller; and a sister, Maude Miller Mitchell.
Mack faithfully attended Trinity Free Will Baptist. He loved the Lord, his family and attending church. He was a kind, humble man who loved to laugh, feed wildlife and to dance.
Mack was a hard worker and worked many years as a millwright and welder before going to work for Avery County School System from where he retired. His life and legacy will forever be cherished.
Mack is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Shirley Glover Miller; her children, their spouses and grandchildren; his daughter, Gwendolyn Miller Cole and husband William; four grandchildren, Ian Miller, Derek Miller, Andrew Cole and Amber Cole Cook and husband Justin Cook; three great-grandchildren, Keely Miller, Anna Cook and Tucker Cole; a sister, Mary Gray; a stepson, David Dugger; a special niece, Lois Estep; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The service to honor Mack Miller will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tetrick Funeral Home with Pastor Reed Bagby officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service. The graveside service will follow at Flat Springs Cemetery with Pastor Richard Jones officiating. Active pallbearers will be Ian Miller, Derek Miller, Andrew Cole, Justin Cook, Joel Guinn and Mark Guinn. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Gray and Billy Miller. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Avalon Hospice of Bristol for their loving care.
