Carl Shoun, 72, Roan Mountain, died in Carter County Memorial Hospital Thursday evening following a short illness.
A native of Johnson County, he was a salesman for McNess Products Co. for the past 25 years. He was a member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include his widow Mrs. Pishie Short Shoun; one daughter, Mrs. G.A. Pleasant Rt. 3, Butler; two sisters, Mrs. Suma Lowe, Mountain City; one brother, Claude Shoun, Boise, Idaho.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Greer and the Rev. S.W. Myers officiating. Burial was in Shoun Cemetery, Bethel Community, Mountain City. The Unaka Baptist Choir were in charge of the music. Active pallbearers were Ted Ray Myers, Sproles Nave, Riley Murray, Ivan Morley, Earl Williams, and J.E. Arnold. The family received friends from 7 until 9 Friday evening at the funeral home. Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton was in charge of the arrangements.
