Charles Cyle Byrd, 73, Jonesborough, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2018, at his home while he was surrounded by his family. He was a native of Erwin and graduated from Unicoi County High School in 1963. Cyle is a son of the late John Lawrence Byrd, Sr. and Velva Willis Byrd. He moved to Jonesborough in 1984.
Cyle retired from Hoover Ball in 2007 after thirty-four years of service.
He loved to fish, hunt, farm, “tinker around” in his shed and spend time with his family. Cyle was a gentle, caring man who would help anyone he could.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John Lawrence Byrd, Jr. “J.L.” and one sister, Robbie M. Byrd.
Cyle left behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of over fifty-one years, Diana Byrd; three sons: David Byrd and wife, Anneta, Daniel Byrd, all of Johnson City and Matthew Byrd, Jonesborough; two daughters: Wendy Tesnear and husband, Duane, Limestone, Michelle Broyles and husband, Daniel, Jonesborough; one brother, Harold Byrd and wife, Mae Bell, Flag Pond; four sisters: Bertha Byrd, Erwin, Joan King and husband, James, Jonesborough, Olga Edwards and Dorris Byrd, both of Erwin; seven grandchildren: Samantha, Jessica, Kayla and husband, Joshua, Kelsey, Shaylan, Heather and Cooper; several nieces and nephews also survive.
