- Ray L. Clemons Sr., 89, of Watauga, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at Greystone Health Care Center. He was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Joseph and Catherine Crowe Clemons.
Mr. Clemons retired from Atmos Energy after many years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Joan Clemons, and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include three sons, Ray Clemons Jr., David Allen Clemons and Billy Ray Clemons; a step-son, Bobby Eugene Ward; a grandson, Ryan Clemons; two granddaughters, Dulaney and Riley Ward; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Mr. Clemons will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 18, at Happy Valley Memorial Park, Elizabethton, with Chaplain Dwight McPherson officiating.
