- ELIZABETHTON - Earl E. Williams, 88, Elizabethton went home to be with the Lord Tuesday March 17, 2020 at the Hillview Health Center after a brief illness.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Tyler O. & Nannie Simerly Williams of Hunter Community. He was a 1949 graduate of Elizabethton High School. He served in the Korean Conflict and the United States Army Medical Corps. Earl was retired from Watson’s where he was store manager for over 40 years. He was Past President of Elizabethton Civitan Club, A Volunteer Worker at ARM. Earl was an active member of West Side Christian Church and the 90 + 9 Men’s Sunday School Class and an avid fisherman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Dora Morris Williams, and his brothers: Ray Eugene Williams in 2001 and Larry Robert Williams 2005.
Survivors include Two Nieces: Brenda Williams, her daughter Jessica and grandson Theodore. Linda Martin and her husband John and many close cousins.
A Service to Celebrate the life of Earl Williams will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2020 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Dr. Greg Key Minister officiating. Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers will be: Luther McKeehan, Bryan Taylor, Thomas Ingram, Mike Harris, James Avery and Robbie Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of West Side Christian Church, and the men of the 90 + 9 Men’s Sunday School Class, Dan Gould, Frank Childress, Steven Earhart, Steve Stout , former employees of Watson’s and members of the Elizabethton Civitan Club.
