- Bobby Oliver, 62, 437 Nave Hollow Loop, Elizabethton, died Thursday, April 6, 2000, in the Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Luther Henry and Mamie Buckles Oliver. Mr. Oliver was preceded in death by a brother, William Oliver and a sister, Opal Oliver Lewis.
Prior to his illness, he was a supervisor with the H.C. Lewis Construction Co. Mr. Oliver served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Williams Oliver; two sons: Jeremy Oliver, Wilbur Dam Road, Elizabethton; and Jonathan Michael Oliver, of the home; four brothers: Tim Oliver, Clarence Oliver, Dewey Oliver, and Luther Oliver; all of Elizabethton; three sisters: Shirley Harris, Lithonia, Ga.; and Mary Phillips and Carolyn Treadway, both of Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
OLIVER -- Funeral services for Bobby Oliver, 62, 437 Nave Hollow Loop, Elizabethton, who died Thursday, were conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Willie Lunsford officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Buckles Cemetery. Charlie Williams will provide the music. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 1:55 p.m. Sunday, will be Gurney Pierce, Lawrence Pierce, Dallas Pierce, Lawrence T. Pierce, Andy Wilson, Randy Wilson and Chris Honeycutt. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Carter County Rescue Squad, Willard Bowers, Arthur Bowers and Kirby Carpenter.
