- JOHNSON CITY - Bobby Lee Campbell, age 74, of Johnson City, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at the Johnson City Medical Center, following a brief illness. Bobby was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee to the late Taft and Grace Bradshaw Campbell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Evelyn Taylor and Carolyn Richards; and one brother, Bruce Campbell.
Bobby was a devoted husband, who loved his family and passionately cared for them. He loved his God, family and his flag and loved helping others. Bobby had worked for Wells Fargo as an armed guard then became part owner of Capital Armored Services, when he retired. He proudly served his country in the Tennessee Army National Guard and was a member of Elizabethton Church of Christ. Bobby, along with his wife, competed in many marathons all over the United States and internationally, having ran in more than 50 marathons. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Those left to cherish his memories include his loving wife of 52 ½ years, Judy Harmon Campbell; four sisters, Georgia Berry, of Elizabethton, Betty Kyte, of Williamsburg, VA, Peggy Richardson, of Johnson City and Darrell Ann Fair (Packy), of Elizabethton; three brothers, James S. “Bo” Campbell (JoAnn), of Elizabethton, Paul Campbell (Wanda), of Apex, NC and Harold Bill Campbell (Lorraine), of Elizabethton. Also, many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly, as well as his special friends, Janice and Copeland Hicks.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Bobby Lee Campbell will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Elizabethton Church of Christ with Mr. Roby Ellis, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the church, prior to the service on Saturday.
The committal and entombment will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 26, 2020 in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
