- GRAY - Ruby Lee Markland, 85 of Gray passed away Monday, January 20, 2020 in the Life Care Center of Gray.
She was a native of Newport, Tennessee and was a daughter of the late William and Bessie Lee Neeley McKinney. Mrs. Markland attended the Cherokee Independent Freewill Baptist Church in Johnson City. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James Allen Markland in 2007; and four brothers.
Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Berry and husband, Bobby of Greeneville; grandchildren, Traci Ayers, Angela Jordan and Crystal Berry and special grandson, Randy Thomas whom he made his home with her for many years; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City Thursday, January 23, 2020 from 1:00 until 2:00 PM then proceed to Washington County Memory Gardens for graveside service. Nephews and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
