- JOHNSON CITY - Mary Sue “Susie” Rogers Hamby, 93, of Johnson City, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020.
She was a native of Washington County and was the daughter of the late William Landon and Katherine Elizabeth Poore Rogers.
In addition to her parents, Susie was preceded in death by her husband, Luke D. Hamby, five brothers and four sisters.
She was a loving mother and grandmother. Susie was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with grandchildren. She was an avid bowler. Susie was of the Baptist faith.
Those left to cherish Susie’s memory include her daughters: Phyllis Ann Chess and her husband Don, Mary Kathryn Dye, Karla Renae Buck and her husband Keith; son, Donald Wayne Hamby and wife Kathy, grandchildren: Melissa McKibbon, Richie and Jeff Dye, Marc Scott, Dakota-Luke and Elijah Buck; nine great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, sisters: Lillian Webb, Novella Johnson; brothers, Jimmy Rogers; several nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends to share memories from 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 until a Celebration of Susie’s life at 12:00 pm in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City with Pastor Dennis Greene officiating. A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday at East Tennessee Cemetery in Blountville. Family will serve as pallbearers. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:50 pm.
