In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Joe Hamby Sr; a son, Bobby Joe Hamby; a daughter, Kathy Mae Hamby Holbrook and a brother, Chester J. Rogers. She was an Electronics Engineer at Texas Instruments, from where she retired after many years. Virginia was a member of East Watauga Avenue Baptist Church. The graveside funeral service was conducted Monday, October 13, 2014, at Monte Vista Memorial Park at 11AM.
