- John B. "Bob" McInturff, age 89, passed away Sunday, November 17th after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Unicoi, TN, he lived most of his life in Johnson City, TN.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Marge; his parents Dewey and Myrtle McInturff; brothers Dave and Fred; sisters Mary, Dot, Thelma, and Viola; nephew Steve McInturff; great-niece Megan Hulse; and beloved family dog Molly.
Bob is survived by his daughter Kathy; sisters Jean, Peggy (Johnny), Val (Rich), and Kathy (Mike); and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was an Army veteran who served in the Korean war. Upon returning home, he worked for the U.S.Postal Service until his retirement in 1985. He also worked with his wife Marge in the flower shop they co-owned, "Flowers by Marge".
He was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church, where he sang in the church choir. For several years he also sang with "The Appalachian Express Chorus". In later years, his love of music led him to record some of his favorite gospel songs. He also recorded a tribute to his life with his late wife Marge, " Down Memory Lane" (Margie Remembered). This song was co-written with his longtime friend, Fred Stewart.
Bob donated his body to the Anatomical Gift Program at the E.T.S.U. Quillen College of Medicine.
A special celebration of Bob's life and his love of music will be held in the Spring of 2020. An announcement will be made in advance of this memorial tribute.
