- Mrs. Mary Bunton Peters, 80, 169 Peters Hollow Road, Elizabethton, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. Peters was a native of Avery County, N.C., and a daughter of the late Lewis J. and Emmer Jones Bunton. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Elmer Warren and Clate Peters, and six brothers, Clyde, Andy, Carl, Paul, Dallas and Luther Bunton. Mrs. Peters had lived a number of years in Elizabethton. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church but attended New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Doris Bunton, Mountain City, Mrs. Rose Bunton and Mrs. Maude Bunton, both of Elk Park, N.C. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
