- Robert "Ronnie" Hughes, 70 of Johnson City, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. A native of Johnson City he is the son of the late Carl and Lizzie Hughes. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a brother, Everett Hughes.
Ronnie graduated from Happy Valley High School before graduating from Steed College with a degree in business. He proudly served his country in the US Navy and worked with Warner-Lambert, retiring in 1994. Ronnie was a member of Fairview Baptist church and enjoyed restoring old cars, camping and sports. Ronnie was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother and will be missed by many.
Those left to cherish Ronnie's memory include: wife of 45 years, Cathy; sons, Bryan Hughes (Jill) and Curtis Hughes (Carolee); grandchildren, Landry and Laynee Kate Hughes; siblings, Virginia Woods and Betty Leonard; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Veterans Administration Staff.
A Committal service and interment will take place at Washington County Memory Gardens, Johnson City on Monday, February 11, 2019 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Gary Roe officiating and military honors. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 PM. Pallbearers will be Andy Savage, Joey Savage, Ethan Savage, Randy Woods, Matthew Woods, Gary Chapman, Lee Wamsley, and Allen Torbett.
