- ERWIN - Nancy Josephine Ruble Metcalf, age 80, Erwin, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2019 at the Johnson City Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Hubert and Gladys Taylor Ruble.
Nancy was a lifetime member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was a former employee of Superior Hone, where she worked on the assembly line for eighteen years.
Nancy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed spending time with all her children and grandchildren. Nancy liked going to Dollywood, camping at Watauga Lake, going to UT Football games and watching her beautiful hummingbirds.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Edwards on February 1, 2019 and one brother, Billie Jackson Ruble on February 11, 2010.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of sixty-three years, Jack Metcalf; one son, David Metcalf (Christie); three daughters: Judy Whitson, Donna Garland (Tony), Rena Bailey (Daniel), all of Erwin; three brothers: Jerry Ruble, Ben Ruble (Kaye) and Don Ruble (Jennie Lou); four sisters: Sally Briggs (Gerald), Linda Tittle (Larry), Gail Burnette (Gerald) and Betty Ruble; nine grandchildren: Chasity and Chad Edwards, Misty Peterson (Chris), Ashley Peterson (Jason), Michael Whitson, Austin Bailey, Anthony Garland, Christian Metcalf, Shian Stewart (Derek); twelve great grandchildren: Hannah and Gavin Keasling, Zoe and Kennadi Edwards, Paige Whitson, Colton Warrick, Cami and Paisley Peterson, Nevaeh and Bentley Garland, Kynlee Ann Stewart, Hayley Derry (Nathan); two great-great grandchildren: Clayton and Justin Derry; sister-in-law, Toni Ruble; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 3, 2019 in the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Garland James will officiate. Music will be provided by Gerald Burnette. Committal will be held at a later date.
