- John Edward Danner, age 89, of Linville passed away peacefully at the Life Care Center in Banner Elk, NC on Tuesday October 30, 2007.
Mr. Danner was born in Linville, the son of the late Lloyd and Samantha Wall Danner.
He graduated from Newland High School on 1935 and studied at the Cone Radio Repair Training Institute in Cincinatti, Ohio. Most of his adult life Mr. Danner practiced the carpentry trade and was a fifty year member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, AFI-CIO. While following the construction industry on the East coast, Mr. Danner Lived in Aiken, SC, Wilmington, DL and Alexandria, VA. In 1980 he retired to his native home in Linville.
Mr. Danner was a member of Linville Evangelical Methodist Church and supported John Wesley College in Greensboro, NC and the Oriental Missionary Society.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by; a son, Stephen Lynn Danner; a son-in-law, Adrian A. Evans; three sisters, Hazel Danner, Beatrice Danner Clark and Bernice Danner Sudderth.
He is survived by; his wife Goldie Gragg Danner of Linville; son, John E. Danner Jr. and wife Sammie Godfrey Danner of Florence, SC; a daughter, Frances Elaine Danner Evans of Mooresville, NC; a sister, Faye Danner Wise of Linville; four grandchildren, Eddie Danner and Cathy of Darlington, SC, Kevin Danner and Julie of Florence, SC; Jeffrey Evans of Mooresville, NC, Kelly E. McMillian and Ron of Mooresville, NC. Eight great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. John Danner will be held on Friday November 2nd at the Linville Evangelical Methodist Church at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Ken Harper and Rev. Burl Greer. The Danner family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
Interment will follow at Tanglewood Cemetery.
