- Kenneth Max Braswell, 63, formerly of Southside Road, Elizabethton, died Sunday, July 15, 2001, in Greeneville, Tenn., following an extended illness.
A Carter County native, he was the son of the late James M. and Myrtle Hyder Braswell. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Laura Braswell, one son, Kenneth Michael Braswell, two sisters, Frances Stout and Leona Elliott, and two brothers, Gene Braswell and Tyler Braswell.
He was of the Free Will Baptist faith. Mr. Braswell was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired as a Sargent First Class and served two terms in the Korean Conflict and two terms in the Vietnam War.
Survivors include a daughter, Lois Maxine Johnson, Wilmington, N.C., three grandchildren, Jimmie Michael Braswell, Wilmington, N.C., Teresa Johnson, Orlando, Fla., and Timothy Johnson, Wilmington, N.C. one great-granddaughter, Jasmine Nicole Braswell, Wilmington, N.C., one brother and sister-in-law, James and Wilma Braswell, Elizabethton, two aunts, and several nieces and nephews.
BRASWELL -- Funeral services for Kenneth Max Braswell, 63, formerly of Southside Road, Elizabethton, who died Sunday, July 15, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2001, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, with the Revs. Allen Simerly and D.C. Byrd officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2001, in Hyder Cemetery. Full military honors to be accorded by an honor guard from Fort Campbell, Ky. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone will meet at the funeral home chapel at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2001, to go in procession to the cemetery.
