- ELIZABETHTON - Donald L. Hardin, 90, Elizabethton ,went to be with his Lord Sunday, December 8, 2019 in Sycamore Shoals Hospital after an extended illness.
A native of Big Stone Gap, Virginia, he was a son of the late Auda A. of the Hardin Brothers Quartett and Viola Peters Hardin. He lived most of his life in Elizabethton. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict where he received a Purple Heart and other service related metals. He was an employee of American Bemberg Corporation and North American Rayon Corporation for 25 years. He was also an Electrician & Pipe Fitter and a millwright at various construction companies. Don was also a self-employed auto mechanic. He was a member of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an Infant son: Terry Hardin, three brothers: Charles, Danny Ray and Olan "Pie" Hardin and a sister: Alma "Bo" Williams.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years: Carol Groce Hardin. His Children: Randy Hardin & wife Darlene, Tim Hardin & wife Doris and Wendy Watson. His Grandsons: Andy Hardin & wife Monica, Joshua Hardin & wife Diana, and Cory Watson & wife Sheena. A Great Granddaughter:Callie Hardin. His Sisters: Georgia Ellis and Vera Smith. A Brother: David "Doug" Hardin. Several nieces & nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Nicholas Colbaugh and Rev. Ray Colbaugh officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday December 11, 2019 in the Blevins Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Andy Hardin, Josh Hardin, Cory Watson, Robert Groce, Frank Peters and Darrell Byrd. Honorary Pallbearers will be Men of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church, Bill Gentry, Leonard Lewis, his nephews and the Staff of the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.
