- He was the son of the late Henry G. and Fannie E. Crowder. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Crowder; three brothers, Dock Crowder, Fred Crowder and Isaac Crowder; and two sisters, Marie Crowder and Mrs. Dena Moore.
Mr. Crowder was a faithful Christian and was a member of the Church of Christ where he had taught adult Bible classes for more than 50 years.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the D-Day Invasion of Normandy, France and eight major campaigns on the European front.
He was at graduate of East Tennessee State University and the University of Michigan. He taught math at Cloudland High School. He served in the Flint Community Public Schools, Flint, Mich., for more than 30 years, where he was prinicpal of Flint Central High School and superintendent of the public schools. Mr. Crowder served on the Board of Directors of the Flint Area School Employees Credit Union for 24 years.
Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2001, in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home.
Graveside services and interment were conducted at ll a.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at Happy Valley Memorial Park.
