  Notes	John was better known as "Yellow Jacket" John for his reported short temper as suggested by his several court cases. He was the son of Ansel Bailey and Elizabeth Bradley and they were said to be parents of twenty children, but some of the best Bailey researchers question the last few names added. Their children are usually listed as: Elmira (Honeycutt), Ansel (went to GA), Martha "Patty" (Cooper), Hiram (to TN), Morgan is buried here; Rev. Garrett went to TN; Thomas is buried here; John, Margaret "Peggy" (Tipton), Temperance "Tempie" (Hughes Bennett), Louisa (Briggs) to TN; Jefferson ws in the Union Army; Martin Luther and Addison Crusoe, both died young; Elizabeth (Bryant); Eliza Jane died young and is buried here; Calvin, Aaron, Sarah (Garland) to Georgia; and Curtis. In 1914 "Yellow Jacket John" Bailey deeded 100 acres to the newly formed Yancey County Commissioners, for which the town square is named Bailey Square in his honor.
