- Mr. Robert Edsel "Ed" Deloach, 82, passed away Saturday morning, October 5, 2013, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Born in Blackshear on September 17, 1931, Mr. Deloach had lived in Hilliard, FL for many years before moving back to Pierce County in 1992. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer with the US Navy and had finished out his retirement by working in the maintenance department at Air Traffic Control in Hilliard, FL. Mr. Deloach was known for being able to fix anything no matter how challenging it may have been.
He was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church where he was a deacon and was in the Adult Men's Sunday school class. Mr. Deloach and his late wife, Mary Chal Stanford Deloach, were former members of Hilliard First Baptist Church and went on several mission trips.
Mr. Deloach enjoyed fox hunting and was a member of The Fox Pen Hunting Club.
He was a son of the late William Evan & Mary Ann Roberts Deloach. In addition to his first wife, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lou Deloach and Juanita Colley; and also by all six of his brothers, W. T. Deloach, Doris Deloach, Burnell Deloach, Ray Deloach, Jerry Deloach and David Deloach.
Survivors include his wife, Clarice Davis Deloach of Blackshear; a daughter and son-in-law, Micki & Marcus Peagler of Jackson, MS; a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby, Jr. & Tina Deloach of Hilliard, FL; two step-daughters, June Lagrue of Brunswick and Lynn Holton of Blackshear; a step-son, Tommy (Jackie) Hinson of Waverly; two sisters, Carolyn (Leo) Marks and Norene (Hershel) Kruise all of Texas; 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.
