- Shirley Taylor Ingram, age 84, of Andrew Lane in Newland, the Buck Hill community, died Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family.
Born in Avery County on May 10, 1935, she was the daughter of the late James and Lorena Farmer Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband: Frank Ingram who passed away in 1994; and a Brother: Jimmy Taylor.
Shirley was a member of the Buck Hill Presbyterian Church and had served as a Sunday School Teacher. She loved God, her church, and church family and cleaned her church until she was in her eighties. She was also a loving Mother and Grandmother. Shirley worked in many different jobs, including textiles and she loved to work outdoors. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, was an avid reader and loved writing poetry.
Left to cherish her memories are her Daughter: Lena Ingram of Newland; her Sons: David Ingram and wife, Gaye of Raleigh, NC, Randy Ingram and James Ingram both of Newland; her Sisters: Christine Clark of Knoxville, Tenn., Betty Calloway and Judy Smith both of Newland; her Brother: Buddy Taylor of Jonas Ridge; four Grandchildren: Amy and Stacey of Raleigh, Andrew of Wilmington, and Shane of Newland; several nieces and nephews.
A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends took place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2019, at Webb Funeral Home. The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service for Shirley Ingram at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2019, at the Buck Hill Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. Jim Hoilman and Wallace Wise officiating. Interment will follow in the Benfield Cemetery.
