- Ms. Gloria Smoak Haynie, 69, of Red Bank Road, Walterboro, entered into rest Saturday morning, October 31, 2015, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, November 4, 2015, from the graveside at Pleasant Grove Baptist Churchyard, 7345 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro.
Born July 27, 1946, in Colleton County, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Furman Marion Smoak and the late Anna DeLoach Smoak. She was a graduate of Palmer Business College and was a retired bookkeeper from Rhodes Oil Company in Walterboro where she worked faithfully for many years. Following her retirement, she worked as a data processor for Jackson Hughes, Albert Lucas, and Thurston Hiers at Self-Serve, Inc. She was raised in the family church, Canaan Baptist Church at Canadys. Gloria was truly a lady of style, taste, and love. She loved her family and others dearly, and had a great passion for animals. Her love for animals provided for many over the years a rescue and loving home and a life that they may not have otherwise known. She also had a special passion with taking care of the family farm.
Surviving are: three sisters, Susan Smoak Gourley of Morristown, Tennessee, Cynthia Smoak Williams of Concord, North Carolina, and Janet Smoak Jordan of Jacksonville, Florida; an uncle, The Honorable Gerald Smoak. She is also survived by a niece, Lara O'Shields; and three nephews, Russell Williams, Charlton Williams, and Christopher Jordan; as well as a host of loving cousins.
