- Nora Hoilman Johnson, age 79, loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 10, 2017 while at Watauga Medical Center in Boone. Born in Avery County, North Carolina on January 30, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Coyd and Mary Elizabeth Hoilman.
Miss Nora, known as a gentle and tender hearted woman, was a great cook who never met a stranger. She enjoyed working with her flowers when she was able.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Finley Johnson; one daughter, Jamie Burleson; four step children, Rejeanna Trice, Finley Johnson, Jr., Remona Johnson and Kristie Johnson; one sister, Sharon Ward; three brothers, Ted Hoilman, Fred Hoilman and Herman Hoilman; two grandchildren, Paige Duncan Presnell (Gabe) and Brianna Duncan (Skyler); and two great grandchildren, Lexi Ford and Callie Presnell. Mrs. Johnson is also survived by a number of step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Johnson Chapel Church in Newland, where she was a member, with Revs. Jim Shoupe and Bill Shoupe officiating. Interment will follow at Ashley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
