- Montie Elmer Chesser, 70, Rt 2, died Friday in Johnson City Medical Center following a lengthy illness. A native of Carter County he was the son of Henry and Lydia Lyons Chesser. Mr. Chesser was a member of Lyons Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. He was a carpenter, a farmer, and lumberman.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, one son, and four brothers.
Survivors include his wife Mrs. Mae Sheets Chesser, three sons, Roger Harold Chesser, Montie D. Chesser and Montie Earl Chesser, all of Johnson City. Four daughters, Mrs Eunice Hicks, Mrs. Peggy Hicks, and Mrs. Mary Butler all of Jonesboro and Mrs. Louise Blevins; one sister Mrs. Alice Whitson of Johnson City; 21 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
