- Burnett Hamby, 75, of Elizabethton, passed away Monday, August 19, 2019, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Roan Mountain, he was a son of the late Barney and Martha Ashley Hamby.
Burnett had lived in Indiana and Arkansas before returning to Carter County. He was a construction worker.
Burnett attended Southside Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include his children, Burnett Hamby Jr. and wife Marie Hamby of Elizabethton and Deon Podgorski of Indiana; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 21, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Steve Burleson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, Ind.
