- Virginia Dare Hamilton Nave, 82, of Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019, after an extended illness.
A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Robert R. and Anna E. Reed Hamilton. She had lived most of her life in Carter County.
Virginia was a former employee of the Housecleaning Department of Carter County Memorial Hospital and retired due to disability from North American Rayon Corporation. She was an active member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church and the WMU of the church. She was also a member of the Auxiliary D.A.V.A. Chapter 17.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, Stephen K. Nave, Michael Nave and Rev. Jeff Nave; her sisters, Ruby Watts, Anna Bell Hamm, Mary Watts, Edith Hamilton, Ossie Hurley and Beulah Caldwell; her brothers, John Hamilton, Fred Hamilton and Robert Hamilton; her grandson, Michael Lee Nave; and also her special friend and sister-in-law, Mary Hamilton.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Albert V. Nave; a daughter, Robin Nave Markland; a sister, Nettie Clark; a brother, Samuel Hamilton; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Annetta Nave and Lesia Nave Goodman; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Dr. William Duncan and Rev. Willie Lunsford officiating. Music will be provided by David Long and the Caldwell Springs Baptist Church Choir. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Caldwell Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Eddie Nave, Mike Nidiffer, Bob Carr, Jeff Pierce, Stephen Lewis, Dallas Pierce, Dexter Lunceford and Dean Robinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Reedy, Chris Long, Dr. Keith Cook and her church family.
