- Rev. Cecil Garland, born August 17, 1925 to Garrett and Mary Garland in Bakersville North Carolina, went peacefully to be with the Lord on March 27, 2019.
He was surrounded by his loving family, at his home for over 55 years, in Johnson City, Tennessee.
Cecil was a minister for over 50 years, serving several churches in the tri-cities area. He founded Bible Independent Church, over 40 years ago. His love was for fellowshipping, spending time with his family, fishing, camping and gardening. He was retired from Garland's Tree Service, which he founded with his son.
In 1951, he married his sweetheart, Charlise Jean Ayers. They were happily married for over 67 years. Having two sons: Larry Garland and wife Diana Milhorn Garland, and Johnny Garland; Four grandchildren: Jennifer Garland Johnson and husband David Johnson; Kimberly Garland Ledford and husband Jared Ledford, Mikell Garland and Dewey Garland. One great-grandchild, Paisley Grace Ledford; Three siblings: Earnest Garland of Johnson City, Tennessee, Chirley Yelton of Maryland and Fairy Mae Carver of Pennsylvania.
Funeral services for Rev. Cecil Garland will be conducted in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services, on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at 4:00 P.M. with Rev. Charlie McCamey and Rev. Gary Rodgers officiating.
Friends will be received at Tetrick Funeral Home on Sunday, after 1:30 P.M. until the hour of service at 4:00 P.M.
A graveside and committal will be conducted on Monday, April 1, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in the St. Paul Church Cemetery, located at 1665 Allison Road, Piney Flats, Tennessee, 37686.
