- JONESBOROUGH - Anna Louise Barker, age 92 of Jonesborough, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019 at the Four Oaks Health Care Center.
Anna Louise was born in Washington County, to the late Josephine Hyder Miller and Noah Edward Miller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Barker, Jr. and three brothers, Harry, Jim, and Herb Miller. One sister, Mary Roseberry resides in Johnson City and one sister-in-law Marie Miller, lives in Jonesborough.
Anna Louise retired from the Johnson City Press Chronical as a librarian after 30 years. She was a charter member of Midway Baptist Church and later became a member of Grace Baptist Church. Anna Louise enjoyed spending time with family, especially her beloved granddaughters, Tara Stanley and Courtney Gibson. She also enjoyed reading and quilting.
Those left to cherish her memory include one son; J. Byron Barker III and wife Kathy of Clemmons, North Carolina; Two granddaughters: Tara Stanley and her husband Jonathan, and Courtney Gibson and her husband Gerry, all of Winston Salem, North Carolina. She also had four great-grandsons: Alex and Bryson Cooper, Bennett and Turner Gibson; Five nieces and four nephews.
A funeral service for Anna Louise Barker will be conducted on Monday, May 27, 2019 in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services of Johnson City at 2:00 P.M.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday, after 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service at 2:00 P.M.
A committal and graveside service will be held at the Roselawn Memory Gardens on Monday following services with Kenny Rawles, Gerry Gibson, Jonathan Stanley, Ronnie Barrett and Bill Livesay serving as pallbearers. Luke Whitson will be serving as an honorary pallbearer.
