- ELIZABETHTON - Harold Dean Boone, age 74, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went to be with his Lord on June 22, 2019 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
'Dean', as he liked to be called, was born at home in Roan Mountain to the late Oran and Martha Greer Boone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Boone, wife, Ramona Smith Boone, and granddaughter, Sierra Rollins. Dean was a 1963 graduate of Cloudland High School and a member of his beloved Hunter Methodist Church. He retired after 43 years as a printer (Kingsport Press, Inove Graphics, and Arcata Graphics). He had an infectious smile, loved a cold Sprite from Sonics, known for looking spiffy and being a momma's boy, and loved country cooking. In his spare time, he was passionate about tinkering with old cars, camping, woodworking, hunting, and wine making.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted companion Judy Boone Orr, and five children: a daughter, Donna Pearce Harrell (Jim); a daughter, Theresia Boone Cannon (Tim); a son, Kyle Daniel Boone (Norma Livingston); a daughter, Robyn Boone Moore (Calvin Hyder); and daughter, Rebecca Boone Rollins (Michael); 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, a brother, Lawrence Boone (Mary); a brother, Jim Boone (Johnnie); a sister, Ann Teter; a sister, Grace Canter (Red); a sister, Charlotte Julian (Bud); and numerous special nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service to celebrate and honor the life of Harold Dean Boone will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. Pastor LeAnn Crandall and Associate Pastor Mike Berry will be officiating. Music will be provided by Hunter and Sally Berry. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Tuesday or at his residence at other times.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the Greer Family Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Jim Harrell, Tim Cannon, Nathan Boone, Matthew Cannon, Robby Holly, John Canter and Alan Tisdale. Honorary pallbearers will be: Mike Shouse, Dewey Oliver, Bobby Bullock, Calvin Hyder, Clint Bowers, and Men of the Carter County United Methodist parish.
Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, to go in procession.
A special thank you to recognize his primary physician Dr. Jonathan Bremer, Dr. Daniel Barocas of Vanderbilt, Dr. Devapiran Jaishankar of ETSU and staff, and especially Judy and Victor Deloach and employees and staff of Ivy Hall's B' wing for the dignity and respect they gave while treating and caring for our beloved father.
