- BAKERSVILLE - Dona Y. Buchanan, 90, of Cook Town Road, died
Thursday, Apr. 8, 2004 at Brian Center Healthcare in Spruce Pine.
She was the daughter of the late John and Hattie Greene Yelton,
and wife of Homer Buchanan. She was also preceded in death by a
step-daughter, two sisters, and five brothers.
Survivors include a step-daughter, Helen Smutz of Salina, KS; two
sisters, Mary Yelton and Martha Mosley, both of Bakersville; two
brothers, Vestal Yelton of Sykesville, MD, and Joyce Yelton of
Bakersville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cloudland Baptist
Church. Revs. Danny Silvers and Glen Autrey officiated. Burial
followed in Hobson Cemetery.
