- BOONE, N.C. -- Mrs. Meirl Harmon Dugger, 70, of Lenoir, formerly of Avery County, died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory.
Mrs. Dugger was preceded in death by her parents, Dayton and Beulah Guy Harmon; her husband, Freeman Dugger; six brothers, Ed, Rufus, Ray, Glenn, Ralph and Daney Harmon; and two sisters, Susie Dugger and Marie Blankenship.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Rita Dugger, Claremont, and Jerry and Lisa Dugger, Butler, Tenn.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Katie and Ricky Garland and Ms. Brenda Ellis, all of Lenoir; and three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mrs. Margie Jones, Taylorsville, Judy and Brownlow Hodge, Roan Mountain, Tenn., and Faye and Coy Stines, Elk Park. Eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

DUGGER -- Funeral services for Mrs. Meirl Harmon Dugger, 70, of Lenoir, N.C., formerly of Avery County, who died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 4, at Meadowview Baptist Church, Butler, Tenn., with the Rev. Richard Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the John Harmon Cemetery in Avery County. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Hampton Funeral Service in Boone.
