- MARY ROMINGER, nee HUBBARD, wife of JOSHUA ROMINGER, was born at Fayetteville, N.C. on the 15th day of October 1818, and died on the 20th day of February, 1897, aged 78 years, 4 months and 4 days.
She made a profession of religion when she was between twelve and thirteen years of age and became a member of the M.E. Church, of which she remained a member until her death, a period of about 66 years.
She was the mother of 10 children, 5 of whom live to mourn their loss with her husband. She leaves about 80 children and grand-children.
She was a quiet, humble Christian, and her death was peaceful. She was laid to rest in the Wilson Grave Yard. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. C. S. Farthing at the grave.
She was a good wife, an affectionate mother, and had many friends wherever she lived or was known. She was also a woman of marked fortitude and courage. Her chief joy concerning her children was to know they were dutiful Christians. Any one that knew her was impressed that she had been brought up in a refined Christian home. She has gone before to "that land of rest" and her works "do follow her." Dear weary one, we would not call thee back to sorrows and cares if we could.
Written by one who has known her for 35 years.
