- Ruth Hughes Troutman, 8041 Highway 19E, Roan Mountain, died Thursday, January 28, 1999, at her residence following an extended illness.
Mrs. Troutman was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late G.W. and Maggie Hughes. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kandy Kay Troutman; four brothers, Burley, Roby, Clyde and Lawrence Hughes; and six sisters, Julia Burkett, Pearl Hughes, Frances Gardner, Mildred Heaton, Nora Odom and Blanche Arwood.
Mrs. Troutman was a member of Roan Mountain First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Lee Troutman, of the home; a son, Roy Lee "Tim" Troutman Jr., Roan Mountain; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Dot Hughes, Roan Mountain, Patsy and C.L. Young, Newland, N.C., Billie and LeRoy Gray, Greeneville, and Ruth Ann and Terry Tipton, Johnson City; a sister, Mae Brown, Eustis, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Brady Lee Hughes and Toni Young Vess, both of Roan Mountain, Roy Allen Hughes and Delia Young, both of Newland, N.C., Jonathan Lee Gray, Greeneville, Maggie Ruth Tipton, Johnson City, and Heather Nicole Hampton, Elizabethton; and four great-grandchildren, Mollie and Clayton Vess, Roan Mountain, Tessari and Chazz Hughes, Johnson City.
Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, is in charge of arrangements.
TROUTMAN -- Funeral services for Ruth Hughes Troutman, 8041 Highway 19E, Roan Mountain, who died Thursday, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, with Rev. Jim Lindsay, Rev. Robert Beers and Rev. Richard Stout officiating. Interment will follow in the Troutman Family Cemetery, Roan Mountain. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews. Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, is in charge of arrangements. Elizabethton Newspaper
