- Gertrude Elizabeth Calhoun, 91, of Midway passed away Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005.
Born Aug. 10, 1914, she was the daughter of the late G.S. and Rosa Ann Franklin.
Mrs. Calhoun was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church for 43 years.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. F.C. Calhoun; brothers, James D., Clarence, Russell, Don and Robert Franklin; sisters, Mary Calhoun and May Oakes; and her son-in-law, James P. Hunter.
Those left to cherish her loving memory include sons and their wives, the Rev. Bill and Joyce Calhoun of Crab Orchard and Harold Dean and Sandra Kay Calhoun of Lexington, Ky.; daughters and their husbands, Rose Marie Hunter of Charleston, Reba Jane and Jimmy Beckett of Crab Orchard and Drema and Don Slaughter of Lakeland, Fla.; 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Hazel Lewis of Gastonia, N.C., and Pauline Calhoun of High Point, N.C.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church, MacArthur, with the Rev. Sherman Sizemore officiating. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
