- HUDSON - Mr. Avery Allen Snyder, 87, of Hudson, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday,
Oct. 23, 2007. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he was born Sept. 7, 1920 in
Watauga County.
Mr. Snyder was a son of the late Wilburn E. and Alma Warren Snyder and the husband of
his loving wife, Ruth Shuford Snyder of the home, to whom he was married for 55 years.
Mr. Snyder was a member of Dry Ponds Baptist Church and retired from Bernhardt Furn-
iture.
Other than his wife, he is survived by four sons, Danny Snyder and wife, Margaret, Joe
Howard Snyder and wife, Caroline, and Steve Snyder and wife, Judy, all of Lenoir; and
Clifton Snyder and wife, Susan, of Calhoun, Tenn.; two daughters, Joy Sims and husband,
Kermit, of Haynes City, Fla., and Jewel Clark and husband, Roger, of Bethlehem; one sis-
ter, Alice Potter of Tamarack; two sisters-in-law, Chloe Snyder and Louise Snyder, both of
Lenoir; one brother-in-law, Ralph Shumake of West Jefferson; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-
grandchildren; and his very special loving dog, Peanut.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Loyd and Wade
Snyder; and four sisters, Ema Snyder Shumake, Ola Hunt, Grace Chester and Marie German.
A celebration of Mr. Snyder's life will be held at 3 p.m. today, Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at Dry
Ponds Baptist Church, with the Revs. Rick Crouse, Simeron Hamby and Audley Frazier
officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. today, Friday, one hour prior to the service at
the church.
Pallbearers will be Mr. Snyder's grandsons.
