- Mrs. Linda Proffitt Hopkins, age 67, of West Jefferson died Wednesday morning, October 31, 2018 at her residence. Funeral services were held on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at 3:00pm at Bald Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. John Elledge officiating. Burial followed in the Bald Mountain Cemetery. The family received friends from 2:00-3:00pm on Sunday, November 4, 2018; one hour prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Hopkins was born in Butler, TN on August 24, 1946 to the late Bruce and Mavis Fletcher Proffitt. She worked as a sales clerk at Wal-Mart in West Jefferson. She had a passion for collecting Angels. She was a loving wife, mother and sister; she will be missed by all. She was also preceded in death by a son, Everette Wayne Lunceford; a brother, Jackie Proffitt and a sister, Dorothy Stanley
Mrs. Hopkins is survived by her husband, Allen Hopkins; three sons. Tim Hopkins and wife, Justine, of West Jefferson, Tony Hopkins, of West Jefferson and Anthony Hopkins, of West Jefferson; a daughter, Patricia Seagle and husband, Lance, of Fleetwood; a brother, Jerry Keith Proffitt, of Elizabethton, TN; four sisters, Norma Jean Eldreth, of Mountain City, TN, Beverly Jean Lowe, of Mountain City, TN, Judy Brockwell and husband, Donald, of Elizabethton and Nancy Matherly, of Elizabethton; a daughter-in-law, Rebecca Lunceford; a special friend, Homer Shell; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
