- George Ingram Jr., 82, of Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late George Ingram Sr. and Mary Lee McKinney Ingram.
George was retired from Summers-Taylor. He served in the Tennessee National Guard and was a member of Long Hollow Baptist Church. His hobby was his horses.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons, Harold Lee, Darrell Allen and Dana Ingram Jr.; one daughter, Martha Elaine Ingram; one sister, Ruth Ingram; and one brother, Lawrence Ingram.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Ward Ingram; three children, Michael Ingram, Elizabethton, Lisa Simerly and husband Jack, Roan Mountain, and Karen Ingram, Jonesborough; his step-sons, Roy Canter, Roan Mountain, and James Carpenter, Elizabethton; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; his sister, Edna Snyder, Johnson City; a brother, Norman Ingram, Elizabethton; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for George Ingram Jr. will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, February 8, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Richard Shepard and the Rev. Richard Shepard Jr. officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 9, in the Hall Cemetery, Tiger Creek. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:20 a.m. Saturday, will be Joey Campbell, Mike Whitehead, Danny Montgomery, Troy Ward, Ronnie Kent, Adam Ingram, Jack Simerly and Bryan Estep. Honorary pallbearers will be Grady Hill, Aaron Potter, employees and former employees of Summers-Taylor and his breakfast buddies at Southern Restaurant.
