- Virginia"Tootsie" Peters, 72, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014 at her residence after an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Arthur & Nannie Pearl Forbes Colbaugh. Prior to her illness she was employed at Unaka High School. Virginia was a member of New Freedom Fellowship. Her Hobbies were, canning, sewing, gardening, cooking and going camping. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister: Louella Colbaugh and a brother-in-law: Howard Simerly.
Survivors include her family that she dearly loved. Three Children: Juanita & Husband Dejuane Sheffield, Dennis and wife Janie Peters and Lorraine Peters, all of Elizabethton. Two Sisters: Ruby "Pnut" and husband Eugene "Frosty" Bowers and Linda Simerly, all of Elizabethton. Five Brothers: Kenneth & Wife Carolyn Colbaugh, Jessie & Wife Brenda Colbaugh, Ray & wife Loretta Colbaugh, Lester & Wife Doris Colbaugh and Powell Colbaugh, all of Elizabethton. Three Grandchildren: Rachael Sheffield & fiancé Brent McClain, Vanessa & husband Bill Lambert, Ashley & Husband Paul Waters, all of Elizabethton. Four Great Grandchildren: Jayda McClain, Austin Lambert, Chloe & Ava Waters. Two Special Friends: Jewel Ward & Linda Fay Peters.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday October 15, 2014 in the Blevins Cemetery with Rev. Ray Colbaugh and Pastor Dale Ward officiating.
