- "A gloom was cast over the entire section Saturday by the news of the death of Mrs. Linnie Hoke, which occurred at the home of her son, Mr. Willie Hoke. She was a victim of malarial fever, being sick only a few days. She was a faithful member of the Lutheran church, a loving wife, a loyal mother, and a good neighbor, She was the widow of the late John D. Hoke. We have everything to comfort us in the thought that our earthly loss is her eternal gain. She was a woman who was loved and esteemed by all who knew her. She leaves three children., 15 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. She was laid to rest Sunday afternoon at Gilboa cemetery amid a large crowd of sorrowing friends."
