- UNICOI - Bertie Lou Waldrop Hopson, age 83, of Unicoi, went home to be with the Lord on October, 15, 2018 at The Waters of Roan Highlands Nursing Home.
She was a native of Carter County, TN. Bertie was the wife of 60 years to the late Jack Hopson where they lived on Marbleton Road in Unicoi. She was the daughter of the late Clifton and Pearl Wagner Waldrop of Watauga. Bertie loved her family dearly and always made holidays special with her cooking. She loved going to church at Green Pine Baptist and her favorite song was Amazing Grace. Her favorite things to do was gardening in her beautiful flowers and feeding the squirrels and deer in her yard. She will greatly be missed by all those who had the privilege to know her. In addition to her parents and her late husband, Bertie is preceded in death by a great grandson Gavin Hopson, great granddaughter, Paislee Gouge, a brother Clifton Junior Waldrop, sisters Angeline Head of Elizabethton and Linda Sue Merritt of North Carolina.

Opal Porch of Johnson City, TN, Pauletta Carpenter of Elizabethton, TN, Trudy Key of Telford, TN; Brother: Donald David Waldrop; 7 Grandchildren: Bobby, Jeremiah, Kris, Racheal, Dani Jo, Tony Jr., and Sydney; 9 Great Grandchildren.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Bertie Lou Waldrop Hopson in a funeral service to be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 18, 2018 in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Jack Dykes and Reverend Dallas Greg will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 18, 2018 and will continue until service time in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. A committal service will be held in Roselawn Memory Gardens immediately following the funeral service on Thursday. Those serving as active pallbearers will be Tony Hopson, Danny Hopson, Kris Hopson, Tony Hopson, Jr., George Atkin, and Dakota Gouge.
