- Mrs. Clara Hicks Trivette, 85, of 4204 Andy Hicks Road, Banner Elk, died Sunday morning, July 23, 2006, at the Life Care Center in Banner Elk.
Mrs. Trivette was born May 11, 1921 in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Andrew "Andy" and Susanna Presnell Hicks. She was a homemaker and member of Faith Baptist Mission Church.
Mrs. Trivette is survived by two daughters, Janice Coffey and husband, Howard, of Clemmons, and Betty Trivette of Lexington; four sons, the Rev. Richard Trivette and wife, Margaret, Dean Trivette and wife, Pauline, all of Banner Elk, Roy Trivette and wife, Connie, of Lexington, and Marvin Trivette and wife, Mary, of Banner Elk, in Watauga County; six granddaughters, Patricia Hurst and husband, Jim, of Bardstown, Ky., Rebecca Bivens and husband, Keith, of Banner Elk, Tammy Colbert and husband, Brian, of Vilas, Angela Scott of Lynwood, N.C., Kriston Jolly and husband, Thomas, of Lexington, and Stephanie Trivette of Banner Elk; four grandsons, Stevie Trivette of Banner Elk, in Watauga County, Mark Coffey of Clemmons, David Trivette and wife, Emily, of Port Richey, Fla., and Brandon Trivette of Banner Elk, in Watauga County; one brother, Ben Hicks of Banner Elk, in Watauga County; and a special niece and friend, Pearl Hicks, and great-niece, Joy Dickens, both of Banner Elk, in Watauga County. Eleven great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lemmie Trivette; two grandsons, Calloway Paul Trivette and Timothy Dean Trivette; and 12 sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday morning, July 26, at 11 a.m. at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state from 10 until 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Richard Trivette, the Rev. Mike Townsend and Pastor Joe Ingham. Burial will follow in the Trivette Family Cemetery.
