- He was a son of the late Wiley and Betty Heatherly Ellis. Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by his first wife, Faye Elliott Ellis; a brother, Paul Ellis; a sister, Florence Shankle, and a step-son, Wayne Webb.
Mr. Ellis was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. He was a member of the New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church. He was a charter member of the Appalachian Sportsman Club and a charter member of the Stoney Creek Coon Club.
Funeral services for Luther James Ellis, 88, were conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2002 in Memorial Funeral Chapel.
Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2002 in the Caldwell Springs Cemetery.
