- Mr. Paul Johnson, age 82, of Roan Mountain, TN passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018
at his residence. A native of Roan Mountain, he was the son of the late John and Daisy Birchfield Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a retired U.S. Navy Chief and he served during the Vietnam War. He was the owner of the White Way Grill. Mr. Johnson was the V.F.W. Post # 2166 Commander and a member and Past Master of the Roan Mountain Masonic Lodge # 566 F&AM and was a past Vice-President and Founder of the Jericho Shrine Temple of Roan Mountain.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katrene Willis Johnson and five sisters, Viola Roark, Edith Holdren, Deliah Freeman, Creola Gentry and Ora Tony. Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Paula Johnson Rovelo, Roan Mountain and Laura Johnson Szillus and husband Ken, Rio Rancho, NM. Two granddaughters, Paulina Katrene Rovelo, Roan Mountain and Angela Szillus, Rio Rancho, NM also survive.
A service to honor the life of Mr. Paul Johnson will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2018 in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain. Masonic service will be held at the funeral home by the Roan Mountain Masonic Lodge # 566 F&AM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 – 2:00 P.M. on Sunday prior to the service.
Interment will follow the service on Sunday in the Johnson Roanview Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard.
