- Vida H. Buchanan, age 88, of Massillon, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2009. She was born on November 23, 1920, in Cranberry, North Carolina to the late Mark and Cordia Gouge. Vida was a 1938 graduate of McKinley High School. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and the Garfield Gabby Girls. In addition to her parents, Vida was preceded in death by her husband, Staples Buchanan. She is survived by four daughters, Virginia Buchanan of Canton, Judy (Steve) Santoro of Dale City, VA, Anna (David) Sabarese of Dale City, VA and Debbie (Dennis) Brewer of Canton; son, Mark Buchanan of San Jose, CA; ten grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; and sister, Venita Mayberry of Canton. The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to Altercare of Navarre for all their kindness and loving care. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 11am in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel with Pastor Mark Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 from 6-8pm in the funeral home.
