Notes |
- Jonesboro, Tenn., Nov. 28- A fatal accident occurred last night at 10 o'clock one mile east of this place, near the county bridge. David Onks and Albert Merrit, two yong men about 24 years old, were at the home of the former and had in their possession an old 32-caliber pistol. Merritt states that he thought that he had extracted all of the cartridges from the gun. Onks grasped the gun and attempted to wring it from the hands of Merrit and in the scuffle, the gun was discharged and the ball penetrated the heart of Onks, going through his body, killing him instantly.
Both young men were good friends, and as this was purely an accident no arrest have been made.
